Christmas in Caloundra

Christmas, this year was spent in Caloundra.

Christopher moved here last year, so we agreed that this would be the best place to gather together for Christmas.

Caloundra is a beautiful town on the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia. During our visit, We were able to spend time at some of the town's stunning beaches, including Bulcock Beach, which is located in the heart of the town and is known for its calm waters. The beach is also home to various restaurants, cafes, and shops, making it a great place to relax and enjoy the local atmosphere.

Other beaches we spent time at were Happy valley and Dickys beach. In addition to the beaches, we also had the opportunity to explore some of the parks and recreational areas in Caloundra. The Caloundra Street Fair is held every Sunday and is a great place to browse local products, art, and crafts. There are also several walking and cycling trails in the area, including the Coastal Walk, which offers breathtaking views of the ocean and surrounding landscapes.

We also learned about the town's history during our visit. Caloundra is home to a number of sites of historical interest, including the Caloundra Lighthouses, which were built in the late 1800s and are now listed on the Queensland Heritage Register. The lighthouse is just up the road from Christophers' house and has a handy car park, as it has been impossible to park any nearer to his house over Christmas.

The Caloundra Regional Gallery is another must-see, showcasing a range of contemporary art exhibitions throughout the year. Still, I think the best exhibition is the aircraft museum at the local airfield.

Overall, our visit to Caloundra was a truly memorable experience. The town's beautiful beaches, parks, and recreational areas, with its rich history and cultural offerings, make it a great destination for anyone looking to relax, explore, and learn.
