Koblenz

We arrived here in the evening from the boat tour from Mainz. After setting in to our hotel we organised bikes for 3 days to explore the region.
Day 1
We collected the bikes and rode down to Braubach. The ride follows the Rhine South and passed many lovey old building's. After reaching Braubach we cycled up the hill to the castle Marksburg.

The tour of the castle was great. In fact the best castle tour of the holiday.
The castle was the only one never to be defieted so it was in great condition for being over 700 years old.

After the castle tour we rode into the little town at the bottom of the hill to discover that they were celebrating the final day of the wine festival. We sampled the many wines an ended up riding home in the dark.

Day 2
We spent the day riding up the river moselle. Then catching the train back to our hotel. (The hotel was next to the main station for Koblenz)
This ride took us through the vine yards that hug the North slopes of the Moselle river.

The Vinyard a are so steep that they need small rail carts to collect the grapes.

In the evening we rode in the cable car across the Rhine to look at the large fort.

Day 3
We followed the river Kahn. This was by far the nicest bike ride. It was almost always away from the road and had many lovely towns to explore along the way.
