Time to Travel west - day 1 Sydney to Katoomba

Today we left Sydney to start our journey west to Perth, with a chance to drop in to see my dad in Adelaide.

Karin and I were buzzing with excitement as we hit the road in our trusty camper van, ready to start our journey from Sydney to Adelaide. The sun was just starting to rise, and we felt the cool breeze on our faces as we drove towards the Blue Mountains.

We made a quick stop for coffee and breakfast along the way, eager to get to Katoomba and explore the area. As we drove through the winding roads of the mountains, we couldn't help but feel amazed by the stunning views of the valleys and forests.

We had plenty of time to see the trees as we were often in first or second gear , traveling at a speed of 20km/ph up the steep parts of the range. Our lovely van is a bit under powered and we just have to be patient when climbing hills.

When we finally arrived in Katoomba, we parked the van and set out to explore. We headed straight to the Three Sisters lookout, where we were greeted by an incredible view of the famous rock formation and the surrounding mountains. After taking in the breathtaking view, we decided to hike down to the base of Wentworth Falls.
The trail was challenging, but we were rewarded with stunning views of the falls and the surrounding valley.

As the sun began to set, we made our way back to Katoomba and found a cozy restaurant for dinner. Over a delicious meal, we talked about the adventures we hoped to have on our journey and felt grateful for the incredible experiences we'd already had on just the first day of our road trip. Back in the camper van, we snuggled up in our cozy bed and drifted off to sleep, excited for what lay ahead.
