Held up In Kathmandu
Today has been a strange day, the last few days have been
very strange.
I am held up in Kathmandu and i'm not supposed to be here. I
was supposed to be hiking in the mountains at least for the next two weeks. Because
of this virus I have been forced to come back to Kathmandu and get a flight home
back to Australia. I have found out that Nepal is closing the international
airport tomorrow night and it is not clear when it will be open again. So today
or tomorrow is my last chance to get out.
I have now got a ticket for tonight but only after changing
the flight twice. ( thank you flight center for all your help)
I have had a short walk around this part of Kathmandu ( Thamel
) and it is very unlike the Kathmandu I am used to. There is almost no tourists
and is very quiet. It is normally filled with tourists , people , motorbikes,
dogs and cars .
The coffee shop I have been frequenting has told me he will
shut up the shop and go back to live with his parent on the farm. The place where
Brian and I have been having lunch is closing tomorrow and sending the staff
away.
