Kingaroy Gliding club and winery
Relaxing day
Visiting the local gliding club then the winery
We spent 2 weeks in Kingaroy and the town has a great gliding club. I (David) was real keen to go flying and spent time with some of the members . Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate and i will have to come back another day to fly here.
Really great club house and facilities
The kingaroy airfield has an important history. It was a big base durring the 2nd world war.
Now it is inportant for the royal flying doctor , as you can see in this photo , collecting a passenger to take to brisbane hospital.
(Karin) We visited the local winery
They had some awesome ports which I am only just begging to enjoy, the cold weather probably has something to do with that haha.
They also had a free 48 hour caravan park for self contained campers.
We also did some walking arround the town. Kingaroy is famous for its penuts.
here is a giat silo full of penuts!
we also checked out the local art gallery held in the old shire couciil chambers.
