Sapphire Gemfields Wetland Reserve

Last little hike in the Gem fields before we headed back to Emerald waiting for my (Karin) computer to arrive for my new job.

Pretty little walk, though dry. Looks like this has been upgraded recently.
The weather was perfect nice and sunny and not too hot.

This little walk including the off shoots only took just over 3kms.
There were were ample signs explaining the wildlife, trees and vegetation.

First off was this miners hut showing how some people live while mining, very primitive. I am glad they had a net to sleep under because the flies, mosquitos and midges are horrible.

This abandoned car was not unexpected for the area hahaha

This area is normally under water but all there is a at the moment was this kind fine grass that resembled water. The little Fairy Shrimp David thinks are like the Sea Monkeys you can get for the kids in toy shops to grow.

Not sure if you can see the kangaroos in this photo jumping away. When they saw us coming they all took off. There were so many, I think David may have got this on his GoPro. Laying down the kangaroos were camouflaged, thinking there were only a few soon turned into at least 15 or more. We must have stumbled on their favourite resting spot.

This is a Bird watching hut

This poor tree looked like it was bleeding
